New Security Measures For Your Protection

Due to an increase in nationwide Debit Card Fraud, Queenstown Bank of Maryland has added several new security measures. These new security measures may result in a transaction denial. If you experience a denial, please try your transaction again as a debit purchase using your PIN. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. This decision has been made to protect all of our cardholders from fraudulent activity.

If your signature-based debit card transaction does not go through at a merchant location, try it as a PIN-based transaction (simply select Debit and enter your PIN).  If you do not know your PIN, please contact any of our convenient branch locations to have a replacement PIN ordered for you. Please remember, for your protection, do not share your Queenstown Bank of Maryland Visa Debit Card, ATM Card or PIN with anyone.

The purpose of these restrictions is to protect you by stopping any fraud before it occurs. As always, check your account frequently either online or through mobile banking, and alert the bank to any suspicious activity as soon as possible.

ATM/Debit Card FAQ

Is there an additional charge if I use my ATM or Debit Card for a pinned transaction at a Point of Sale (POS) terminal?

No. Queenstown Bank of Maryland does not assess a fee if your ATM or Debit Card is used for a pinned transaction at a POS terminal.

What do I need to do when my ATM/Debit Card is about to expire?

If you notice that your ATM/Debit Card is about to expire you don’t need to do a thing. We automatically send out new ATM/Debit Cards to customers the month of their expiration.

Are there any limitations on my Queenstown Bank ATM/Debit Card?

Due to a dramatic spike in card fraud on non-pinned transactions in New York, Connecticut and New Hampshire, effective immediately we will require the use of your PIN to complete transactions in these states. The use of PIN will continue to be required to complete transactions at any store that is categorized as a ‘grocery’ or ‘drug/pharmacy’ merchant.

If your transaction is declined, try again as a DEBIT transaction using your PIN. Using your assigned PIN for any card transaction increases your level of security. Queenstown Bank does not charge any additional fee for a PIN transaction using your Visa Debit Card. This decision has been made to protect our cardholders from further fraudulent activity. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

What do I need to do when I am planning to use my ATM/Debit Card while on vacation?

Before leaving on your getaway, we recommend that you stop into one of our 8 conveniently located branches, email us at ibs@queenstownbank.com or call us at 410-827-8881 to let us know that you plan on using your ATM/Debit card while you are out of town. All you will need to do is tell us the dates that you plan on being away and where you plan to go. Customer security is of the utmost importance at Queenstown Bank and there are fraud preventions in place that could limit your card usage if irregular activity occurs.

How do I order a replacement ATM/Debit Card if mine is broken or has stopped working?

Unfortunately, this does happen. When cards get worn, they often crack or become demagnetized. To order a replacement, all you need to do is visit one of our branch locations and fill out a replacement card application. For security reasons, we ask you to do this in person so that we can verify your information to insure that your replacement card is being ordered by you, the cardholder. A replacement card order will arrive in 8 – 10 business days.

What if I forget my PIN?

For your security, PIN information is not kept on file with the bank. In order for us to reissue you a PIN we ask that you please visit one of our branch locations and fill out a replacement PIN application. Once the application is received a new PIN will be sent to you in 8 – 10 business days.

What is the Money Pass Program?

The Money Pass program is a network of banks that provide surcharge free ATM locations nationwide. Queenstown Bank of Maryland participates in this program so that any ATM machine with a Money Pass logo is surcharge free to you, our customer.

How can I find a Money Pass ATM Machine?
