Queenstown Bank was named one of "America's Best Regional Banks" by Newsweek. Queenstown Bank was one of only two banks in the state of Maryland to be recognized by Newsweek.  The survey behind this ranking included a review of the banks’ financial strength, social media presence and reviews, and consumer surveys. The History of Queenstown Bank

April 1899

Queenstown Bank is located in the town of Queenstown, in the State of Maryland. Queenstown Bank was incorporated April 19, 1899 and officially opened for business on July 1, 1899. We are the second oldest locally established bank headquartered in Queen Anne's County. Originally, it was known as Queenstown Savings Bank of Queen Anne's County. The name was changed to Queenstown Bank of Maryland by the actions of the Maryland State Legislature in 1910.

April 1918

In 1918, a site in the center of Queenstown was secured for the purpose of construction of a new bank building. That building opened for business on April 21, 1919. Assets had grown from the original $5,000 to $142,000 in less than 20 years.  Since then, the building has gone through renovation and expansion to what it is today.  The Main Branch continues to operate out of this building at 7101 Main Street.

March 1962

43 years later in 1962, our second branch opened when the Grasonville location was dedicated on March 24th of that year at 3701 Main Street.

May 1980

Our third branch was opened in 1980 in Chester. This branch was dedicated by then, President James L. Friel. The Chester branch at 1423 Main Street was the first Queenstown Bank location to receive an ATM when one was installed in 1985.

May 1997

In 1995 the Bank purchased property at Benton's Crossing, at the intersection of Routes 8 and 18 in Stevensville for a branch bank. It opened for business in May 1997 at 101 Main Street.

January 1999

Property was purchased in Centreville in July 1997 to build the Bank's sixth branch. This branch opened for business in 1999 at 115 Coursevall Drive.

June 2000

Our first branch outside of Queen Anne’s County was opened June of 2000 in historic Easton in Talbot County at 274 N. Washington Street.

March 2009

In March 2009, we opened our second location outside of Queen Anne’s County in Caroline County, Ridgely, MD at 204A East 6th Street.

March 2010

In Queen Anne's County, but a short distance from Kent County, our eighth branch in Church Hill, MD was opened March of 2010, conveniently located off of Maryland Highway 213 at 1005 Sudlersville Road.

October 2022

Our latest addition to the Queenstown Bank family was opened October 2022 in Cambridge, MD. Originally a loan production office, the bank added a full-service branch with a 24-Hour ATM at 110 Dorchester Avenue, right off of US 50 (Ocean Gateway).

December 2024

Queenstown Bank purchased the property at 320 US-50 (Sunburst Highway) in Cambridge for a new, full-service branch to include drive-thru banking. The former Dairy Queen building was razed and construction is expected to begin in late 2025 with a Spring 2026 opening targeted.
