Queenstown Bank Premium Text Fraud AlertQueenstown Bank has a new, text-based debit card security system that can detect unusual activity and ask you for confirmation of the transaction to help ensure you made the purchase. When you receive a text from short code 37268, please respond; it's from us! If you don't reply within 15 minutes, a phone call will follow up to make sure you are aware of the transaction. No enrollment process is required and you can opt out at any time. If you don't have a device that has text messaging, a phone call will notify you. It's another way that we're working to help protect your account. There are no messaging rates/fees associated with the Queenstown Bank Premium Text Fraud Alert.
Quick Reference GuideYou'll receive a text message from short code 37268. Below are two examples of how this exchange will look: On the left device, the Queenstown Bank Premium Text Fraud Alert notified this customer about a purchase at Bob's Hardware and asked if the transaction was valid or not. The customer responded with YES. A follow-up text confirms that the purchase activity is valid and will process the transaction. On the right device, the Fraud Alert notified the customer about a purchase at Bob's Hardware and asked if the transaction was valid or not. In this example, the customer responded with NO. A follow-up text confirms that the customer indicated the transaction to be fraudulent, and has placed a hold on the card, preventing any further fraudulent charges from occurring. A phone number is provided for the customer to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to follow up about the transaction. If the customer typed STOP, they would not receive any further Queenstown Bank Premium Text Fraud Alert notifications. Fraud ProtectionA lost or stolen card is just one area of concern in today’s world where Identity theft, skimming and other attacks are an unfortunate reality. Having the ability to review transactions that are atypical from your normal use helps to ensure that fraudulent charges using your debit card are reduced and/or eliminated. While the Queenstown Bank Premium Text Fraud Alert will notify you, ultimately you are the gatekeeper and one of the biggest lines of defense from unauthorized purchases. Review TransactionsWhen a purchase is made using your Queenstown Bank debit card, the type of purchase, type of business and location is automatically referenced in the system. If one or more of these criteria signals that a transaction is unusual, you will receive a text notification from short code 37268, asking you to reply with YES if the purchase is legitimate or respond with NO if you did not make this purchase. Replying YES will allow the transaction to proceed. Replaying NO will place a block on your Queenstown bank debit card and the follow-up text message will provide a phone number for you to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Opting OutCustomers can "opt-out" of the alerts by typing STOP in response to the alert. Queenstown Bank does not recommend that you opt-out, as this system provides an extra layer of security for your account at no additional cost. By not using this system, you will not receive text notifications for unusual debit card activity.
